It’s time to turn towards home, especially because storms were moving in from the North, East and South.
West sounded like a really good option, so we went South instead.
We had a lively political discussion with the local folks at a diner in Truth or Consequences, and learned the history behind the name. From the locals we got a big recommendation that we try NM 152, but to be careful about the weather.
We tried to make it over NM 152, but some returning hunters warned us that it was snowing up at the top, so we opted for the southern route. This was OK, however, because that meant we got to stop in Hatch to pick up some famous Hatch chiles, my favorite.
We witnessed a traffic accident in Deming, which delayed our departure for Silver City and led to a very cold ride, arriving after dark.
